Unable to install SP1, error 800F0818

Since a couple of days, after I reinstalled my windows, I have been experiencing problems with installing the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932). Whenever I try to install it I get the following error code: 800F0818.

When I search this error code in the help function of microsoft I get absolutely nothing, the error code doesn't seem to exist in their database, although they made it. When I search this forum I only get custom made solutions and read advices not to use them.

I read in another article that the CheckSUR.persist.log might be useful so I uploaded it in this article.

    System Specs:
    Netbook ASUS 1005PE
    Windows 7 Starter 32 bit
Reinstalled version of Windows 7 (not OEM anymore)
Processor: Intel Atom CPU N450 @1.66 Ghz (2CPUs)
    Directx version: Directx 11
Memory: Kingston 800 Mhz 2 GB
System hardware approximately 3 years old

Thanks in advance for any help given.

    Ronald

View your windows installed updates and uninstall KB2633879. Does that succeed?
Create a new CheckSUR.persist.log afterward and post it.

    wusa /uninstall /kb:2633879
    from Elevated Command Prompt

    But....
However, the same reference table for Windows 7 (all editions) has the following under "Removal Information" -
WUSA.exe does not support uninstall of updates. To uninstall an update installed by WUSA, click Control Panel, and then click System and Security. Under Windows Update, click View installed updates and select from the list of updates.

    Thanks for the reply.

However KB2633879 is not among my installed updates. I tried the elevated dos command, but it returns with a 0x800F0818 errorcode.

    Any other suggestions?

    Unavailable repair files:
    servicing\packages\Package_for_KB2633879_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.0.mum
    servicing\packages\Package_for_KB2633879_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.0.cat
    ====
So put Package_for_KB2633879_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.0.mum and Package_for_KB2633879_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.0.cat in folder c:\windows\servicing\packages

I've attached both files in ZIP.

You can't write in that folder due to permissions. So open Elevated Command Prompt
    1. You first need to gain control over that folder. In order to do this use the following commands:

This makes the current logged on user (needs to have Administrative privileges) owner of that folder:
    Code:
    takeown /F c:\Windows\Servicing\Packages /D y /R
    Then assign full control using:
    Code:
    cacls c:\Windows\Servicing\Packages /E /T /C /G "UserName":F
Replace "UserName" with your current win7 logon name.

By trying to uninstall the update in elevated dos using wusa /uninstall /kb:2633879 I get the error code: 0x800F0818.

Kaktussoft I then tried your other solution. First I used the elevated dos commands to get ownership of the files/folder. I then replaced my package files by the files you gave me. Restarted my pc. Then tried to install SP1, but got the same errorcode: 0x800F0818.

    See the CheckSUR.persist.log again please.

Do these files exist? and did you replace them. Or were the files not there and did you put them there?
