I have Windows Live Mail and it functions PERFECTLY but the update is available and I AM AFRAID TO INSTALL IT AGAIN since it screwed everything up before!!

If I UNINSTALL IT will I lose all my email addresses (465) and my group addresses (268)?? If so I have ZERO interest in playing with it anymore!!!

I do appreciate your replies though!!

You may be best to reinstall - these are the instructions I was give by MS....

I would suggest that you uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Mail.

But before you do it, it would be best to back up your files. You may refer to this link for the instructions on how to do it.

Now, uninstall Windows Live Mail. Please refer to this link for the steps.

Lastly, download and install the latest version of Windows Live Mail. You can download it on this link.

Note that if you subscribe to newsgroups you will have to re-download all posts, as they do not form part of the exported messages

Thanks for your informative reply but what about my email address book??

I have 450 addresses in the entire book and 270 addresses in a special GROUP!! How do I save each of these without having to set the GROUP up manually??

I've just updated mine and it looks like what it has done is include my Facebook contacts. This is probably because the accounts are linked now in Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I wonder if you have something similar.

I don't do FaceBook and they were some (80%) of my existing addresses that got duplicated??!!

How do I save JUST the GROUP......please???

If you go into Contacts on the Hotmail account in the Online version you can filter where the contacts have come from.

This is the screen I am talking about. I don't think you can say which goes to WLM but at least you can see where they came from

That helps but I will have to manually reproduce the GROUP instead of merely exporting it!!
