This will let us know if Microsoft thinks that your Win 7 in genuine.
The reason for this is that if the Win 7 is not considered to be genuine then only critical updates will be applied.
Or read it yourself to ascertain that your version of Windows is genuine as per Microsoft.
Sometimes Microsoft reports genuine versions as pirated. If you version is truly genuine then contact Microsoft on phone and get your OS reactivated. Microsoft shall do it for you without any hassles.
If you find that you need to call Microsoft to have your Win 7 re-activated, then:
Take a look at this tutorial:
Activate Windows 7 by Phone
Sometimes you can just search the web or Microsoft for an answer - although I've found that clicking on the "Get help with this error" link on WU doesn't always get you there - maybe because I use Firefox and WU needs IE functionality.
Search:
windows update error code 800b0100
windows update error code 80073712
andError Code 0x80073712 occurs in Windows Update or Microsoft Update
When you try to install updates or components in Windows 7 or in Windows Vista, you may have one or more of these symptoms:
When you try to install an update by using the Windows Update website, you may get an error message that includes Error code: 0x80073712, and the update does not install.
When you click Turn Windows features on or off in Programs and Features in Control Panel, the Windows Features dialog box, no features are shown.
This issue may occur if the Component-Based Servicing (CBS) manifest is corrupted.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods. For these methods to work, you must be logged on to your computer as an administrator. Or, you must be able to supply a user account name and password for an account that has administrative permissions. If you are using your home computer, you may already logged on as an administrator.
For more information about how to log on as an administrator, visit the following Windows Help & How To article: How do I log on as an administrator?
Method 1: Run the System Update Readiness tool (Checksur.exe)
Method 2: Install the latest service pack for your version of Windows.
Method 3: Run the System File Checker (SFC.exe) tool with the sfc /scannow command
Method 4: Perform an in-place upgrade.

RESOLUTION

Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003.
What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Run the tool and post
%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log
Sometimes, you have to read things twice.
I read your post and thought "Why is Kaktus asking what SUR is when the answer is right there on the link"? Then I clicked on the link and that's actually the title of the article - not a question being asked by Kaktus. Funny how a mind fails as you get older - things are still funny, but you have to think about it more.
Thanks Kaktus for posting the direct link to SUR. I think it's a better tool than SFC, but then that's my opinion and we all have one.
Peace!

Far better to use the MGADiag tool, and post the results :)

I can see no reason for suspecting non-genuine status - at least two of the affected updates are security ones, which would be installed despite any non-genuine status, if everything else were OK.
The two tools are complementary
The CheckSUR tool only fixes a small subset of the OS (I'm not sure about registry entries)
SFC checks every protected file and attempts to fix it if necessary (but doesn't look at the registry)
Since CheckSUR is a fairly large download, it's not a practical one in all instances - and must be updated periodically by re-downloading it (IIRC, it's currently on v15?).
SFC updates its detections every time a properly configured update is installed.
Horses for courses - but it's always better to start with SFC and then run CheckSUR, rather than vice-versa, IMHO.
