    System Restore removed SP1 but...

After I installed SP1 my computer was running very slow so I system restored it to remove it. Although no traces of SP1 are left on my computer, it's still unbearably slow and laggy. I was wondering if maybe installing SP1 again and uninstalling the correct way: (Programs and Features > View Installed Updates > Uninstall) will remedy this whole situation, but I'm kinda paranoid that the update will fail to install or BSOD my computer or something. What are some precautions I can take? and Is this a good idea? Thanks.

So what's next? Should I install SP1 again and see what happens? I really want to get things back to normal again.
