0x000000ED after win7 splash screen. Cant use install disk to repair.

Hi there, I can't boot the repair disk as previously reported. I ran Seatools for DOS which reports bad sectors, but will not repair them or attempt to as it is not a Seagate drive. My system as reported in my profile has a Seagate drive, the one I am trying to fix is a Toshiba satellite, as reported in the OP. Do you know of any utilities that can boot from CD in the style of Seatools that are not manufacturer dependant, or that works with Toshiba drives?

The Toshiba is 64 bit as well, so no issues there. The drive is reported as Toshiba in Seatools, the sticker on the drive says Toshiba as well, there is no indication of any other manufacturer on the drive itself, anod the UK website reports no other info than 320 GB 5400 Toshiba drive. The model of the Laptop is Satellite C650 1CR.
I can only boot into Linux or DOS utilities, and none of them are able to read the disk or repair it. Seatools came the closest to providing useful information, 3 bad sectors were indicated in the long test, but it wouldn't attempt to repair them as I'm sure you're aware.

3. connect the laptop drive as a 2nd drive to your desktop,

How you connect, etc to your desktop, you will need to get the documentation on your motherboard for that one.

@karlsnooks: Partition Wizard Boot disk can do chkdsk as well! Saves him a lot of work... opening laptop and swapping drives.

Tried Partition Wizard, but unfortunately the check disk option was greyed out. I can see myself using this in the future though so thanks for that.
I have bought a hot swappable HDD dock, and when I booted up my main machine with the laptop attached it automatically came up with the 'one of your disks needs to be checked for consistancy' message and ran a chkdsk. I ran a full scan of the drive with Malwarebytes which found some adware but not much else.
It booted the laptop first time! Crystaldiskinfo is reporting 3 Current sectors pending. Hopefully it'll be ok for at least a while. I've made the restore media already just in case it does go pop, and will do a full system image once Windows is fully updated. Somehow they never managed to get past SP1!
Anyway thanks to everyone who posted suggestions, you've all been very helpful.

I had it fail with error 800B100, something to do with missing windows files it says. So I have downloaded the hotfix that seems to relate to that error. Now that that is done Windows update now sees 20 updates instead of just one (SP1) and I am trying to install them now. Will let you know how I get on.
