And yes, only this update failed that caused me trouble. I was unable to use System Restore since I accidentally deleted my restore points in CCLeaner :|

CCLEANER does NOT have an option to delete System Restore Points.

I must disagrea with this one Ccleaner has an option to mess around with Systemrestorepoints and allows deleting of any restore point except the last one
Just try it and install the new version of ccleaner and check for yourself as i make my system backups manually by snapshot on a regulary base i don't use systemrestore at all on my Win7 gaming rig, and for freeing up space on my ssd i use that function every few days

this particular update problem can be very tricky and none of the solutions i found via google worked(except reinstall/put earlier snapshot back).
My solution was to simply use CT Offline Update.
WSUS Offline Update - Update Microsoft Windows and Office without an Internet connection
btw real handy piece of code/software. i use it every day at work

Oh I'm sorry. I think I confused everyone with the word "points" instead of "point". I usually free up my space by deleting my restore points, but I save at least 3. That time, I deleted everything but one in CCleaner. Here's a snippet that CCleaner can delete System Restore Points.

I've got another problem that's bugging me though. I followed this guide here thinking it would fix my WU, but it only deleted my update history. Is there a way to recover my old history list back? I think I'm gonna need that for future reference.
