Won't online activation is easier? Not that I have issues with telephone activation, just that it is long and unwieldy. Did it once for MS Office when my internet was down

If your software doesn't activate online, you will have to use Microsoft's automated activation system, which involves a robo-call by telephone.

You will only have to speak to someone in real time if this activation method also fails, which will occur if you are not using genuine software.

    Activate Windows 7 by Phone

I cannot understand your reluctance to use this method. It's quick and pain-free.

Thanks all for the help. My software is 100% genuine. Just the laziness to punch in so many numbers on the telephone. Now, I can safely shift to 64-bit. I'm marking the thread as solved. Thanks again for the help everyone!!

Telephone activation takes less than 3 minutes, unless you need to speak to an operator - and if you know your way around the system, it takes less than 10 minutes when you DO need to speak to an operator.
    Most calls are toll-free.

You're welcome - please post a new MGADiag report so that we can check that the problem has really gone (and just gone into hiding!)
