    i tried adding preferred DNS 4.2.21 and alternate DNS 4.2.2.2 and my wireless connection stops working please help.

    Maybe your WU is not enabled.
    Open control panel, tick administrative tools, then click on services and look for windows updates if it's enabled.
    If it's not , enable it and see if that solve your problem.

    the troubleshooter says an error occurred while downloading one or more components and the troubleshooter cannot be run.

    Try it again - although it sounds like you may have a dodgy connection? try using a wired connection, if you're on wireless at the moment
