    Unable to Install Windows Updates

I have been trying for the last week to install Windows Updates KB976932 and KB2653956. I have received error codes 80246007 and 800B0100. For error code 800B0100 it was recommended that I install the system update readiness tool. I tried to install but I was unable to. For error code 80246007 it was recommended that I change or restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). I am still unable to to install these two updates. Please help.

Just for clarification, is KB976932 the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7? And is KB2653956 the security update pertaining to Remote Code Execution (April 10, 2012)? If yes, the first thing I'd do is run a full anti-malware scan using the free Malwarebytes. If the scan comes back clean I'd run Disk Cleanup to remove any unnecessary "junk" on your rcomputer.

Disk Cleanup - Open and Use

Then I'd run a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) If any problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan. Damaged or corrupt system files can keep updates from installing.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If SFC doesn't show any problems I'd try to install SP1 by itself.

Please post back with the results.
