    How do I prevent Windows from updating itself when I update MSE


    whenever I update Microsoft security essentials, windows update downloads updates which i want to control how?

    Just switch Windows Updates to 'check and download but do not install' mode - MSE downloads and installs its updates outside the WU area, even if they do appear in the WU listings.
