    Windows update not working properly.

Every time I click on Windows update it brings up the program, but the program is blank. Here's a picture of it to better show my problem.

    Code:

FWIW, your MGADiag report reads as being genuine - although the last attempt to validate failed due to connection problems (which may be the result of either true connection problems, or malware)

I would suggest first checking for obvious malware..
Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) www.malwarebytes.org and update it, and run a full scan (DO NOT enable the Real-Time protection option!) in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds

I currently already have Malwarebyte's. Just finished doing a full scan about an hour and a half ago and it didn't find anything.

    Should be OK then :)
try validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate - what happens?
If it fails again, please post a new MGADiag report.

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type
    CHKDSK C: /R
    and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.

The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size
of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally
(possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
    Click on the Start button
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

    test WU again.

OK - we need to see the CBS.log details - please copy the whole file to the desktop, and then zip it before attaching it to your response.

You still haven't validated properly - please go to the diagnostics site and see what it says...
    www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag

Ah - I just realised tha you DO have a problem with your installation - the Product Key in use is from an ASUS machine, not an Acer.
Since the system is activated, that implies the use of an Activation Exploit, and the installation is counterfeit.

For what version and edition of Windows is the machine licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case?
How did you come by this installation of Windows7 Home Premium?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit . I've only had this laptop for a year and it has a counterfeit OS. Just my luck. Is there any way to fix this? It was a birthday present from last year. Would doing a factory reset fix this?
