    Gary,
    Can you navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE

I do not recommend removing the office14 folder.

The only folder in the Office 14 folder is "1033" which contains the following. This may be the data base that Derek Noel referred to?

I didn't even know that the special purpose stslist existed. That's probably whats triggering your office updates.
Click on the stslist.chm file for info on stslist.

I suspect you're right Karl, have a look at the help file title.

I didn't know I had an Office folder until I started digging earlier today. At this point I have the updates hidden. There is no entry in Programs to uninstall it.

I'd unhide and install. Costs only a few megabytes.

Done. It only installed 4 out of 5 updates saying one was unneeded, 25.6MB. Space isn't a concern, just getting updates for something I didn't know I had and don't use. Thanks for the help!
