I had the same problem.

1. Download and install update "Windows6.1-KB2647753-v2-x64" manually from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29156

2. Do a normal Windows update for the remaining files.

Thanks for the advice but when I try to download the update I am required to download and run GenuineCheck.exe first to get a security number to allow the download.
On running GenuineCheck.exe I get an error message stating "This version of the Windows Genuine Advantage tool is no longer supported. Please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate"
When I downloaded the latest version I get a message stating that I need windows XP to load the tool!
So I cannot implement your suggestion YET!

DavyB how did you solve this problem? i have the same problem where im trying to manually load a bunch of updates but on following the steps for running genuine check i get "This version of the Windows Genuine Advantage tool is no longer supported. Please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate".

i have also used the MGAdiag.exe tool to manually get the validation code (which ends up being 0). when i plug this in to the manual download website and click continue it takes me to this webpage Genuine Windows - Microsoft Windows but no download to be found. if i go back to the download page i get taken right back to the validation page.

Thanks so much for this info....worked like a charm. After this hotfix was installed, Update picked up and installed the 7 others successfully.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I downloaded this link for the hotfix:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29156

After installing and rebooting, the other windows updates can then be installed. So, it's a 2 step process: first install the hotfix, then the remaining updates.

Got the Windows Updates!!!

After 2 hours with Microsoft I got my updates installed. First pick 2 random updates and install those. Should work. One of the updates has to be manually installed. Just go to Start, then type in Services. Go to Windows Installer and make it Automatic. Then install the updates and restart computer. Should work.
