Ok mate look it's a pain but if you haven't got a lot of data to save cos it doesn't sound like it - a reinstall is probably what you need to do.

Now have you any way of getting that drive ready - formatted etc for an install of 7? Because personally I would wipe the thing and start with a completely empty drive - I don't know about anyone else but maybe the Vista remnants are the problem.

The alternative is of course to buy another drive and flip it into the machine - it isn't hard. The option of wiping the drive you will need a second machine to do that and there are two methods of doing that.

Let us know what option is best for you because even with the new drive it is an idea to get it ready too.

Just so you know what you are up for take a look at this Youtube vid as the HDD is not as accessible as most HDD's are in other brands.

Thanks again for your reply.... Truth is that when i've formatted the laptop, i kept the recovery mode(vista) from vaio disk space. Instead of trying another hdd, i've read about a program that completely erases all files from hard disk...although i don't remember it's name now..I don't know if this is the proper space reffering to other software... If you have any program in mind that can do this work please send me a pm... I really appreciate your help till now :)

Yep there is a few Zalps I use the Partition Wizard to "wipe" the drive (writes 0's to entire disk)
DISKPART - you need to go to the command prompt (Start > type cmd > right click > run as admin) for this and run as administrator clean all see pic to see how the drives are lined up in this. It would be a good idea to have a read of the list below first.

I plug the drive into another machine and just run those using the other machine but whatever you do make sure you pick the CORRECT DRIVE!!

A few more here - take your pick - just take your time if you have never done this before if in doubt post back:)

Well done Zalps - could have been as simple as a bad CD mate but at least you are onboard:)

Now if I didn't mention it before if you want a bit more speed out of the system try this tutorial I use it on everything and fixes. Of course if you like the fancy see through glass effect - I can't see the point - leave it but there are a lots of tweaks you can use.

Good luck and do keep on the forum its' been a pleasure - not that I have been that much help.
