    Broken/Corrupted Windows Update

I somehow managed to destroy windows update. it cannot find updates anymore. Ive gotten 2 error codes: 80248014 and (not sure) 80073712. I have tried using a program i found on the windows club that was supposed to fix it but didnt, i tried the System Update Readiness Tool, but it failed. I also read somewhere on this site to delete the softwareupdate folder contents, which i did, but that didnt do it either. what else can i do?

Hello calccrypto and welcome to the forums

Have you tried using System Restore?

Not to worry :) We'll try another way:

    SFC Scan

    1. Open your start menu and in the search box, type Command Prompt
    2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
    3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

      sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

      copy %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log %userprofile%\Desktop\CBS.txt

    4. This will create a file on your Desktop called CBS.txt, please upload this to Mediafire:

My apologies for the delayed reply calccypto. I was away for the weekend and completely forgot about this thread. Thanks for the reminder :)

Your CBS log is showing a lot of corruption in both the files Windows uses and the files stored as a backup.

    Code:
    C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_1080_5sec_VC1_15mbps.wmv
    C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_1080_5sec_MPEG2_HD_15mbps.mpg
    C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_1080_5sec_10mbps_h264.mp4
    C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_480i_5sec_6mbps_new.mpg
    C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_480p_5sec_6mbps_new.mpg
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\ServiceModelInstallRC.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\ServiceModelEvents.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\WPF\PresentationUI.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\en-US\ServiceModelInstallRC.dll.mui
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\en-US\ServiceModelEvents.dll.mui
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\SMSvcHost.exe
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\Sentinel.v3.5Client.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\WPF\PresentationCFFRasterizer.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\Microsoft.Data.Entity.Build.Tasks.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\WFServicesReg.exe

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\1033\cscompui.dll
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\1033\vbc7ui.dll
Uninstall the following programs using Control Panel:

    Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
    Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

Then install these in the following order:

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...netfx3_x64.exe
Download: .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Thanks! Unfortunately, the first link does not work, so i tried to find the dotnetfx3.0. When i did, and tried to install it, it said that i needed to turn net framework ON in Windows Features, so I did. It didnt work. Restarting didnt work either.

Also, 3.0 and 3.5 are not installed. I have net framework 4.0. should i uninstall that first?

You only have v.40? If so, then go ahead and uninstall that. Then reinstall it from that link:

Download: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
