how to reapply specific updates after rollback to a restore point?

    Hi!
In response to a system update, I selected all updates, both recommended and optional, and let them be installed.
After rebooting, the screen came back in 800 x 600. It occurred to me that the brilliant system update did not make the best recommendation, and it had probably written over my display driver.
After looking around for advice, I wanted to roll back just the display driver, but in the driver properties this option was not available. So I rolled back the system to the last restore point prior to the update.
Voila, my screen came back to native resolution and my machine works again.

However, now there are 55 important updates, several of them security related, which show up in the update history, but which are probably not actually applied now.

When I run the system update, it only comes with 1 new update. In the update history log, it shows the updates which have been rolled back, with the date on which they were originally applied. So I think that the log is probably wrong.

    How to reapply them?

I thought the logical thing would be to right-click on each update in the log and select reapply - but that does not exist!

Any geniuses out there who can point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance.

Simply go to Windows Update and install whatever is offered.
The History is just that - a log of what happened. The important listing is the Installed Updates one.

    Thank you for your reply.

    That is just the problem.
When I do that Windows only offers 1 update.
But I rolled back 55 important ones and a few suggested ones.
So I don't think that it has reapplied those 55+ without asking me, and hence I am concerned that my system is not up to date.

What do you mean by the "Installed Updates one"?

In Programs & Features - in the left pane, click on 'Installed Updates'

If you want to check on updates, use Belarc Advisor - it checks that all security updates are installed, and listes them - www.belarc.com

Selecting "Installed Updates" in Programs & Features gives exactly the same list as the "System Update History" that I previously referred to. Thanks for your suggestion of Belarc.

Any other suggestions out there on how to reapply an update, or mark in W7 that an update has not been applied?

The Iistalled Updates list is only identical to the History listing is all updates installed at first time of asking (and you don't have MSE installed) - look closer :)
