Could you run the System Update Readiness Tool again, then copy and paste the contents of the CheckSUR log please?

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

    Hmm, let's try again:

    SFC Scan

    1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
    2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
    3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

      sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

      copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

    4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

    Hi Ponto,

Sorry for the late reply. I recently transferred degrees and I've been ridiculously busy catching up on the work I missed.

Well it still doesn't like my file replacements I think our only option now is to do a repair install:

Being late is fine! good luck with your degree.

The tutorial you linked me to is for windows vista, is the process the same for seven?

I don't have an install disk, is this method legitimate?

Will I need to back my files up to an external hard drive when running a repair install?
