Just a thought if I may. Because all those CSI are all bad at the same time could it be a infection causing it.
There isn't necessarily any problem with any files on the computer, the problem lies in the registry where the index of these files is corrupt. Windows Update reads the COMPONENTS hive to see which files are installed, and where to find these. If the value changes due to a bit flip, then it will point to a non existent file - in this case the SURT has detected that the value is corrupt and the file isn't actually missing, but occasionally the SURT will just report the file as missing.

    @shiphen,

We'll deal with prevention after we fix your problem :) Could you zip up and attach the following file to your next post please?

    C:\Windows\system32\config\COMPONENTS

    It has no extension.

Then the rest is down to me and I can repair it all from my end :)

    Ah - tricky it's 39.4 MB (!) But I'll try.

OK again I've zipped it first with 7-zip in to .7z format and then rezipped it into .zip format.

The original file's filename is in lower case btw.

    Thank you so much.

    Hello shiphen,

Thanks, that's great :) Well your registry is in a right mess, but I've done what I can. I'm expecting to see two errors in the next CheckSUR log as I didn't want to change one part of the value because I wasn't sure, but if it's in the next log then I'll go ahead and fix this.

If you have installed/removed any updates since uploading that file, do NOT follow these instructions. Instead, upload another copy of your COMPONENTS hive please :)

Warning: This fix is specific to this user (shiphen), no one else should follow these instructions as it will cause a lot more problems than it will solve! I will remove this file after the fix has been completed.

    Download this file please: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16537616/sh...components.zip

Extract the contents, you should find a file called components inside (again, with no extension).

    Navigate to the following folder:

    C:\Windows\system32\config

Delete the file: COMPONENTS. Then paste the file that you downloaded from the link above :)

Reboot, then run the SURT and upload the CheckSUR.persist.log please.

    Oh, and cross your fingers!

    Done.

    Please find checkSUR.persist.log.7z.zip attached. :)

What next? (Other than firmly crossing my fingers...)

    Cheers

    Hi shiphen,

Fortunately, that has fixed the majority of your errors, except for the one that I chose to leave :) I'll fix that now.
