    Windows Update Problem

As I open windows update, and check for updates, after a while it gives me an error, i'll write it here:
Windows could not search for new updates
An error occured while checking for updates for your computer.
    Error(s) found:
    Code 80073712
I have also tried Windows Readiness Tool, it doesn't fix my computer, I still can't check for updates successfully

Please post your CheckSUR.log file - while you're waiting for someone to analyse it, please run the standard file system tests.

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type
    CHKDSK C: /R
    and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -

    then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
    At the Command prompt, type
    SFC /SCANNOW
    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.

Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

    Problem not solved

Before you recommended this, I have already tried it, After the CHKDSK completion, when I start up windows, it gives me a blue screen of death (BSOD). So i won't be doing that again, and I am doing the SFC/Scannow now, wait cmd just gave me an error for sfc, it says:Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. I'll Give a picture of what the BSOD looked like after CHKDSK and also a report on skydrive. I will also upload when I check for updates what image i get.

    Update Error 80073712:

That's the second instance of this problem I've seen in the past few days

I have seen reports that using option 5 from this tool - Windows Repair (All In One) - allows the system to function well enough to be able to do a repair install with success, but it's up to you if you want to go through that, as I've not tested it.

I would suggest that you back up all data to external storage, and consider the options of a clean install and a repair install (possibly after using the options in the tweaking tool) as I suspect the prospect of a direct 'fix' is fairly minimal.

Im understanding that your asking me to install windows again, correct me if I'm wrong,

Come on Noel, there must be a better solution other that installing windows again, I am confused, hope you can come up with better solutions or do you know any one else that knows more about this topic

Sorry, no (at least as far as being able to solve it myself)
It possibly is soluble without a repair install, but it could easily take weeks to do so in a forum context, and I don't do 1:1 support for free:)

One thing I would suggest is running the following commands - post the results.

    ICACLS C:\WIndows\winsxs
    DIR C:\Windows /AR /S

it may give some idea of where to start - but I suspect that there is probably considerable registry corruption as well.
