The Key in use is an MSDN Key from a not-for-resale MSDN account.
Unless you are an MSDN subscriber, you are not entitled to use the Key – and whoever sold it to you was not entitled to do so.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer of a new key (all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the authorities)

Please read the following posts.... .................................

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

I did indeed purchase my copy from ebay...

I had notice the packaging was fine, all sealed and everything BUT, the CD's had scratches on them. I onyl got round to opening it 2 months after buying it so never bothered with reporting to the seller.

I will re-check the packaging tonight as the video recommends and report this to MS. What are the chances MS will provided me with a vaild Win 7 Key?

    Thanks for your help NoelDP!

    Definitely counterfeit, then

After this amount of time it's unlikely that you'll get any refund (or even find the vendor again!) so you could try going though the report-a-pirate procedures and see if you qualify for a replacement....

    Report submitted!

Fingers cross they can help me. I checked the discs and can see the holograms are stuck on

That's my lesson well and truly learnt. You won't catch me buying high value software off auction sites again.

Thought I'd update the thread to let everyone know how I got on.

After submitting my counterfeit software report to Microsoft and sending them my fake copy, they've now sent me a Complimentary Genuine Online kit! complete with new licence key and 32 & 64 bit discs.

See Microsoft ain't so bad all the time.

Yeah, it's pretty sweet, has saved me £100+ it would cost me to re-buy a copy.
