Windows 7 update "Service Not Running Error"

I am running windows 7 home premium. Windows update says the service is not running, please restart. I have restarted and the problem has persisted for over a few weeks. I have checked sevices to see if it is stopped. The windows update service doesent even show up.... Is there a way the files could have been deleted? if so how do i recover them? any help would be greatly apreciated!

Click on the start orb and enter services.msc

Attachesd is a snapshot of what the service should look like when it's running:

And here's a link to an MS KB Article that has a Fix-It:

Error: Windows Update Cannot Check For Updates, Because The Service Is Not Running

    Hope that helps

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands

    NET START BFE
    NET START BITS
    NET START WUAUSERV
    NET START TRUSTEDINSTALLER

    post the results.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

    I've uploaded a file - wubitsbfe.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=93673...8FCEB92F%21485
Please download it, and extract the contained .reg file.
Right-click on teh extracted file, and select Merge.
You'll get a couple of warnings, and then hopefully a success message.
Reboot, and try Windows Updates again.
