OK - that itself gives us some clues....

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

    NET START BFE
    NET START BITS
    NET START WUAUSERV
    NET START TRUSTEDINSTALLER

    post the results

...please also run the Fixit from here... You cannot install some updates or programs
but do NOT use any of the manual methods before reporting back with a new MGADiag report.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands one at a time, - only record the number of files and folders in the summary at the end of each (which could take a minute or so)

    DIR C:\Windows /AR /S
    DIR C:\Windows\System32 /AR /S
    DIR C:\WIndows\ServiceProfiles /S
    DIR C:\Windows\SysWOW64 /AR /S

Post teh counts, and we'll see what we get.

Can you clue me in as to the nature of the problem? The MCDiag is meaningless to me, so I was just curious what it is you are seeing.

BTW, since I never said what I was using in case it has any bearing:

    Dell XPS M1530 laptop
    T9500 cpu
    8 gigs of ram
640 gig WD Black hard drive
    Nvidia M8600GT video

I did also forget to mention that both the Nvidia video chip and the memory controller were also repaired. I have my timelines mixed up...the video and memory controllers were in May, the power controller was in September.

Sorry about that, I know sometimes these little details can make the difference.

    Hmmm -
The problem is with the File Mismatches and Tampers - they imply that there's a permissions or registry problem as root cause, and I'm trying to find it.

The number of directories showing in that last command is rather odd - let's see if adjusting that does anything.....

    Open Windows Explorer (Computer)
    Navigate to the C:\Windows folder
Find the SysWOW64 sub-folder and right-click on it
    select Properties

Clear the 'blob' from the 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)' box by clicking on it until it's plain white.
    Click on Apply.

Make sure that the radio button for 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' is set, and click OK.

Accept the Administrator prompt. After a couple of seconds, you'll be told there is an error - click on the 'Ignore all' button.

Wait for it to finish - it could take a couple of minutes.

OK out, and exit Windows Explorer.

    Reboot twice

    Post a new MGADiag report.
