    Hello ivorito,

    I'm very glad that you asked before going ahead with it, I would highly recommend against doing that. It's a horrible way of fixing Windows Update issues as it leaves you with all sorts of other problems after performing the 'fix'. The Windows Update Agent will maintain that folder and doesn't require any interference from us - unless in exceptional circumstances when your store is corrupt, but it doesn't sound like you're having that problem.

    Could you try and download the update from the MS Download Centre please? This will have to be done from within IE:

    Download Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2563227) from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Good that I didn't follow that guys advice then :) Unfortunately, no luck with installing the update manually. The attached image shows all that it told me. Do you have any other suggestions that I could try? Thank you so much by the way for helping me with this.

    You'll often see people suggesting it in an attempt to fix Windows Update problems, and sometimes it will but I would only do that as a last resort to be honest. I'm not professing to be an expert in this or anything, but most of the people who suggest that don't know a thing about Windows Updates. I've even seen MS suggest it in a few articles which I find really strange. Doing so will leave you with an empty Windows Features list and will also delete your Windows Update cache - so the Windows Update agent will have to rebuild the list of available updates, of which there are quite a lot!

    It's tough working on this as I can't read half of the things in your screenshots, but fortunately there are the KB numbers which are universal across all languages :) I think it would be a good idea to try a this MS Fixit:

    Troubleshoot problems with installing updates - WindowsUpdate_dt000

    Just download and run the tool. Let me know how it goes.

    Tom

    P.S. You're most welcome for the help :)

    Oh, you should be able to read the screenshots (I'm English and I'm pretty sure they are in English) would you prefer a different format? And unfortunately no luck with fix it It said that things had been fixed but the problem is still there... Would you suggest trying yet another clean install of windows?
    Thanks

    Hi ivorito,

    I'm really sorry about that, I'm getting confused between threads. I'm currently also helping with a thread where there's a problem with switching from a Chinese language pack which is the one where I can't read the screenshots.

    There's one last thing that I would like to try. Your CBS and CheckSUR logs are showing no issues so I can't work with anything there but there is one more log which I would like to see, if you don't mind?

    C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Ahaha it must get confusing helping all these people... Again, thanks very much for all this. I have attached the update log and apologies for the delay.
    I hope you can make some sense of it!

    Try this:
    1. Click Start, and in the Search box type CMD, then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (this will get you an elevation prompt for an Administrator command prompt)
    2. At the command prompt, type net stop wuauserv, then press Enter
    3. Type rmdir /s %windir%\softwaredistribution\DataStore, then press Enter. Type Y to acknowledge the command.
    4. Click Start, and in the Search box on the start menu, type regedit and press Enter
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate. Right-click on WindowsUpdate in the tree and choose Delete (confirm deletion). Close Regedit.
    6. At the command prompt, type net start wuauserv, press Enter and close the command prompt.
    7. UseWindows Update again to install updates.
    (pilfered from an Arie Slob response to a similar problem)

    Checked last three of your dumps, and those are very silent about any probable cause.
    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    BugCheck 50, {fffff8a000995000, 1, fffff8000331d3c0, 0}

    Could not read faulting driver name
    Probably caused by : CI.dll ( CI!I_LoadCatalogCache+33f )

    Followup: MachineOwner
    ---------
    Whereas, CI.dll is not a cause.

    I would suggest you to enable Driver verifier.
    Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
    Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

    Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.
