I've never worked with a KMS (key management system) license. It's a bulk license, used in corporate environments.

If you acquired it in the usual manner (through your employer), contact your company's IT department for support.

If whoever supplied it to you presented it as a standalone license, you've been robbed. Microsoft may offer a way to go legit, but in the past they seemed to price it at about the same rate as a Win7 Pro System Builder (generic OEM) license.

The installed version of Windows is a KMS License for Windows 7 Enterprise.

Windows 7 Enterprise is not available to the general public, except possibly as a Trial (which this is not)
KMS Licenses are not available to the general public.
If this is a corporate machine, contact your system administrator for assistance.

If you purchased this copy of Windows - from where did you purchase it?
If it's a college install - contact the college.

Thanks for everyone who got back to me, you have been very helpful! Yes, it's a college install. My computer crashed a year ago so I had Windows re-installed and updated through the technology department at my university (the original system I had was Vista). There had never been any problem until now. My Microsoft Office is also popping up message warning me to reactivate it. Are all these Microsoft software problems or could they be caused by a virus? Also, I already contacted my school's tech office but it will be a week before the appointment. Will Microsoft allow a grace period in fixing the issue? What will happen to my computer if I don't solve the problem in the next few days?

Thanks again for all of your help!

You'll be able to continue using it pretty much as normal - apart from the background, and the nag :)
