So close, but so far Could you zip up and attach your COMPONENTS registry hive to your next post please?

C:\Windows\system32\config\COMPONENTS (it has no file extension)

This will be able to tell me where those files came from. Fingers crossed!

That was lucky, all of the files come from the same update! For future reference, if anyone wants to know, they were from KB2729451.

You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the update from this link. It must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

Download from Official Microsoft Download Center

    Download the file: Windows6.1-KB2729451-x64.msu

    Hi Maxx,

That's perfect, thanks! 8024200D can be solved by downloading and installing the update from the web, so please do so from these links:

Download: Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2442962) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2724197) from Official Microsoft Download Center

After installing these, reboot then try SP1 again. If it still fails, run the SURT again and upload the CheckSUR.persist.log please.
