just received Windows 7 Build 7601 not genuine message

Just received the not genuine message, running on a dell inspiron loaded using a dell install disk (from what I have been told) This is my inlaws computer, they like to fiddle with settings....

Your installation is counterfeit.
Your machine was manufactured a year before Windows 7 was launched, and consequently cannot support a, OEM_SLP installation of Windows 7, which requires specific data in the BIOS.
The machine almost certainly shipped with Vista installed - check the COA sticker on the case - and unless a legal upgrade has been applied, cannot run Windows 7.

The disk used for this install may have been from Dell, but it's from a leter model than this machine, and so not valid for it.

thank you for the update. I will try to locate the vista disk for dell and see what I can do.
