    Hello,

Below are the details of the security update that keeps failing.

I have tried the Windows trouble shooter without succes. Fixit without succes.
.Net framework repair without succes. Manual download did not want to work either.

Would anyone have some other ideas?

Download the update, and try installing it offline - Microsoft Update Catalog

(there's no obvious problems in the logs)

    ok

at first the installation would not work b/c it could not find the source code?
then it suggested to install using their recommended settings - that seemed to pass.

How do I know it worked?

Do manual check for Windows Updates, and see whether it still wants to install the patch.
If it does, please post another MGADiag report.

I'm a little confused by your screenshot, I admit! - do you actually have a drive F:?? (If so, what type is it? Hard drive partition, or Oprical drive?)

    Hi Noel,

It is still in the list to be updated. So the installation did not work yet.

My F drive is a hard drive partition.

Carp! - my carefully prepared response got lost in a connection failure

Let's see what we can find out...
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run teh following commands....

    ICACLS C:\
    ICACLS F:\
    DIR C:\vc_red.msi /S
    DIR F:\vc_red.msi /S

    Post the results

Please try running the following 'Fixit' - Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
