If you purchased these softwares then you should have the installer for each.

I would not use Norton as we recommend here using Microsoft Security Essentials for best performance and adequate protection.

If you purchased the preinstalled Office you can clean reinstall it with the Product Key you purchased using the official installer at http://en.community.dell.com/support...tal-river.aspx, or run Factory Recovery which will reinstall the Office Trial to activate again with your key.

If you're using Office Starter it has been replaced with the free Office 2013 web version. Microsoft begins phasing out Starter edition of its Office suite | ZDNet

    Bless you.
I had the same problem before. I chucked the Laptop, and bought a new one.
You can't fix it, you have no hope. I wasted 300£.
That is the most utter rubbish - at worst it may have required a reformat and reinstall.

    Trevor

Please run the following commands and post the results - There is no need to use any form of recovery yet, and you will not be able to change the Key until the current problem is fixed.

    REG QUERY HKU
    REG QUERY HKU\S-1-5-20
    REG QUERY HKU\S-1-5-20\Environment

    rats - that looks normal.
We'll have to cast a wider net and see if we can find the fish!

Please run the following commands, and post the results.

    DIR C:\Windows /AR /S
    NET START SPPSVC
    SC QC SPPSVC
    SC QUERYEX SPPSVC

Once you've posted the results, please run some system checks....

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    CHKDSK C: /R

    and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
    then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.

Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

I've done the CHKDSK and re-booted - Should I see something or should something be running? I curently have black home page with a few icons dotted around - This is what I usually see (since the issue started) - should I see anything else?
