Rats - the MS article I used as a reference lied :)
Please download and run this MS Troubleshooter - see what it has to say... http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=231149
Should I try to run the updates now? Is it really Fixed?
Sorry to report that after 15 minutes it still hasn't installed the first update....just like before.
Jake
OK then kill teh process, then try selecting a single update (not the one that blocks everything) and installing that one only
If that works, then try a few of the others.
Leave teh one we know fails until last.
How do I go about selecting one at a time? When you click update it just starts the process of installing all 9 but doesn't show the individual updates. If I go to update history there isn't an option to run one at a time that I can see.

Forget the previous post. After rerunning Windows Update it gave me access to the individual updates. I went through them one by one starting with the second one on the list. The Windows updates installed. None of the Office 2007 updates would install. I went back and checked the first Windows Cumulative update that had been skipped and it to updated. Now all I'm left with are the Office 2007 updates that won't install.
That sounds as if the problem lies with Office, rather than anything else.
The usual solution for that type of problem is to uninstall Office, run the cleanup tool, and then reinstall it, and update it a few patches at a time (You MUST do manaul check for updates after uninstalling and cleaning Office - this will reset the updates)
