That text is normally on the bottom right of the screen :) - what would cause it to be on the left (unless your language was Arabic) is a mystery to me.
Please post a new MGADiag report

My mistake - rushing - it's on the RHS.

LOL! Been there, done that! :)
Still no change
That was the last of the Matrix driver set - we'll have to either try an earlier one from Medion themselves, Or the IRST drivers again.
We';ll try the Medion drivers first....
You may get an error message with these - I'll need to know the exact wording if you do.
MEDION - Driver Details
The installation came up with "The computer currently contains version 8.9.0.1023 of this software which is newer than the version you are about to install. Are you sure you want to overwrite the current software with the older version 7.8.0.1012?"
I accepted and in case you want it, here's the MGAD report:

To quote Terry Pratchett - "Buggerit!"
I think we've really exhausted the possibilities of the variants of the IMST/IRST drivers, so we'll have to switch to something else.
Unfortunately, we've already tried the only other known fix for this problem (renaming the Catroot2 folder) with no better success.
This means that I'm going to have to start a real hunt-and-peck troubleshoot in an effort to find out what's adrift.
Your other option (and I won't feel offended!) is MS WGA Support (which may or may not be free) -
WGA Support can be found here
North America: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/cu_sc_genadv_master?ws=support&ws=support#tab4
Outside North America: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support#tab0
Please let us know if (and how) MS manage to repair the problem without a repair install of the OS - it would be useful for future reference!
If you'd rather continue here, that's also fine with me - but no guarantees that we'll be able to solve it in any given time, or without a repair install.
Thanks for all of your efforts Noel.
Given my past experiences with MS I'd prefer to continue here.
Do you have any thoughts on Dwarf's suggestion in Post #8?
Am I wrong in thinking that a repair install would only lead to the same situation that we currently have as the HDD is different to that originally 'registered'?
If you don't mind persevering, lets go where ever you think best.
To answer your question about Dwarf's suggestion - It can't hurt, although I've never seen your problem fixed by this.
What may give more detil is the system's response to the following....
(which achieves the object of reinstalling the Key anyhow, if needed)
Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each
net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)
CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe
After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case
Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report
Carried out the above and Got the message that Windows had activated successfully.
Is this a good sign?

I suspect that the TrustedINstaller service is crashing - please open Event Viewer
In the left pane, navigate to teh Windows Logs
right-click on Applications and select 'Save all events as...' save as Apps.evtx
repeat for teh System logs - save as Sys.evtx
Compress both files, and attach to your reply.
