Windows not genuine message plus Error message 0x8000247

Hi folks, I hope someone can help me with this problem:

I'm getting the 'Windows not genuine' message box show regularly. When I follow the link to investigate I get the Windows Activation Technologies box come up saying that the Update Installation Failed with Error Code 0x8000247.

A while ago I replaced a failing hard drive with a new one, cloned the hard drive and used that image to replace everything. After a while I started to get the not genuine message.

Here is the diagnostic report, and I would welcome any help:

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

Thanks for this NoelDP, I've got the downloads, but am confused now as to what to do - if I'm honest I've just got lost and confused on the installation instructions. Could you please advise?
I ran the iata_enu.exe and got the message that 'the computer did not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software'?

No problem - the drivers are badly segregated, and some will not install because they are for more recent machines....
    Try this set instead....

    No change
Usually, if that fails, then the solution is as follows.

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt
    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC
once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
Note that this will delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

I was afraid that would happen
We'll have to go back to basic troubleshooting techniques, then.
Please follow the instructions at Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - it may give us something to work with.

Just a thought. You state that you've replaced the HDD, after which you got the not genuine and error messages. If I recall correctly, and I'm sure that Noel will put the record straight, activation involves hashing the product key together with information from various devices in your system, particularly the motherboard. One of these pieces of information could well be the serial number of the HDD. Since you've changed this, the serial number will obviously not match that of the original, and it could lead to the problems you are having.

Try the following (this will remove your product key, deactivate Windows and hopefully break the association between it and your old HDD and then rebuild it with the new one): Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows and then Activate Windows 7 Online (although you might need to resort to Activate Windows 7 by Phone (if this doesn't succeed, try again but wait until an operator answers)).

If you wish to wait until Noel gets back to you, then by all means do.
