Even simpler Turn off the Stupid Auto Updates. Select Never check for updates then do it manually so you can see and Select what updates to install.
I check for updates maybe once every few months and actually install updates less then that. I also don't use any AV or malware programs and have never been infected with anything. That is on multiple computer running both XP and Win 7.
This whole idea of constantly downloading and installing update is just ridiculous. If it Ain't Broke stop trying to fix it.
If you never use any AV or malware programs, how do you know you're not infected?
Simple my computers run as they should. No hick ups, No this or that stopped working.
And Noel Yes I Do know I'm not infected. It's not hard to tell when a computer is infected with something and then again when it is not.
