Genuine Validation Error - Installing Updates Fails

I am attempting to correct an issue with Windows stating my copy is not genuine, I am also unable to install Windows updates, which I presume is part of the same issue. What I've done so far: I was able to run slui 3 and enter my key from the sticker and it was accepted. Thought maybe this solved issue but still can't update. Ran chkdsk /r and scannow. Both completed, with scannow giving the message: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." Ran the MS tool to correct update issues. Says it fixed the issue but installation of updates still bombs out. Finally I found a post elsewhere about removing KB971033 so I did that...of course I noticed in other posts here that that wasn't a great idea. Unfortunately with my inability to run Windows Update, I can't correct that now.

I just ran the MGDiag tool and results are below:

PS...not certain if the Win Update issue should be on its own in another post - my apologies if it should. However, I wanted to include the CBS log and to provide you with the Update Error code: 8000FFFF. Thanks again.

Please open an Elevated Command prompt and run the following command

    Regsvr32 wintrust.dll

You should get a 'Succeeded' popup - if not, please detail the EXACT error.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

    also.....

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

First, thank you for the reply.

I was able to register the .dll without issue. I was not able to install the iata_enu.exe file...I received a 'your computer does not meet minimum requirements to install this software" popup.

    A new diagnostic appears below:

I get the same 'does not meet requirements' message with the second set. I noticed the drivers for the second link are not Win 7? Is there an earlier Win 7 set to try?

    Thanks

Both drivers will work happily with Windows7 - they are just of different generations.
Since both have failed - try this....

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
Note that this will delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

Great - looks like it was corruption in the store after all.

That looks fine now - you can confirm it, and remove any remaining errors, by visiting www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate to validate it fully. You may have to use Internet Explorer for full access.

Noel...you are correct. I had to fix an issue with some MSIE add on or another not playing nice, but once that was done I got to the Win update site and performed all upgrades without issue. Super job, and I very much appreciate the speedy response and accurate help. Thank you!
