    Update for Windows 7 x64 (KB2726535) Failing; Code 8007045D

I have tried repeatedly since yesterday to install an "Important" update for my laptop, which runs Windows 7 (x64) (KB2726535). The update keeps failing. Code I'm getting is 8007045D. I've tried Microsoft "FixIt" a few times for Windows Update but isn't seeming to help (most recently it just said potential windows update database error detected )x80070002) - fixed; windows update components must be repaired - fixed; problem with background intelligent transfer service (BITS) - fixed.

When turning laptop off, it says "Installing update 1 of 1" - most of the time it just hangs, but last time I tried it the laptop did shut down and when I turned it back on it still said the update hadn't occurred.

I also have let the System Readiness Tool Run - no problems there, and ran the sfc scan yesterday with no problems.

Not sure what else to do here before calling a tech. Any additional help is greatly appreciated.

Everything is there, except for the CBS.log file - please copy it to your desktop and then zip it, and attach it to a reply.

What I sent is what's available in the CBS file when I zip it and copy it. Would I find the CBS log file elsewhere?

The CBS.log file should be in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder with the others the only difference is that it cannot be directly operated on, as it's permanently in use by the OS - so you have to copy it to the desktop, then zip it, and then upload it.

I re-did it - these are all the files within the CBS folder.

It's there now - but there's no sign in any of the logs of an SFC scan.

Please try running another scan, following these instructions

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and attach the log to your reply.

Ran SFC/SCANNOW and no errors appeared. Here's the most recent file:

got the SFC results this time, and they are clear as well.
Download the update from here - Download Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2726535) from Official Microsoft Download Center
    and try installing it.
