Windows 7 keeping updating 7 updates
I need to know how I can stop the continual updating of 7 updates. Everytime I try to reboot - it makes me reinstall them.

Thank you so much for responding. 4 show as failed and 3 as successful. Its the same all the time. I tried following some directions I found online but it didn't help but I'm not a programmer. Here are the notes...

I sometimes get updates pushed at me that are not relevant -- e.g. outlook junk email filter. If I try to install them, they fail -- and then get offered to me a short time later. The only way I have found to stop that from happening is to do a custom install, and uncheck the irrelevant ones. It then asks me if I want to hide them in future -- say yes.
I don't know your situation, and whether those updates are relevant to your system -- but uncheck and don't show again is a way to stop them from appearing.
I have no clue as to why it is pushing again an update that it successfully installed.

we were obviously posting at the same time - and my connection got broken - and I just lost a long post!
I'll try again.
All of these updates are important - but you have the option with every update to 'hide' it, which prevents it from installing, or reappearing until/unless the update is itself updated (which will happen with the Junk mail updates)
We need to try and establish the reason for these updates behaving in this manner - unfortunatelythe two modes of failure are opposites, so it may get complex.
Please first change the Windows Update settings to download but not install updates, to prevent updates installing accidentally.
I think it will be simplest to start with the standard Windows Updates data request - please follow the instructions at Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - it may solve some of the problems, and it may give us more data to work with.
Once that's done, please reboot and run the Fixit at Error codes
then reboot and try to install just the .NET updates on their own - what happens, and what errors do you get, if any?

I think reinstalling the .NET app may have solved the problem. The 7 updates just installed succesfully. We'll see what tomorrow brings so I'll confirm then!!!Last edited by lodea; 16 Jan 2013 at 21:09.

That would seem to indicate that there is a major problem with the installer routines.
Please post the CBS.log file from your SFC run.

UNFORTUNATELY only part of the problem was fixed. The .NET reinstall repaired those 4 updates so they are no longer reinstalling repeatedly. However it keeps reinstalling successfully the Security Updates for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems - these 3 codes (KB2709715) (KB2676562) (KB2679255). Do you know if there is a similar fix for these as there was for the .NET repair?

When I tried to do an SFC scan per the instructions - I get the message "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service". I noticed it said c:/Windows/system32 when I am running 64-bit. Not sure that matters.
