Max Payne 3 BSOD, requires Service Pack 1?

I read that Max Payne 3 requires Service Pack 1 or it will BSOD. Will installing Service Pack 1 wipe my harddrives and give my computer a clean install? Thanks.

No - you shoul dbe installing through Windows Updates, and it will leave your system fully-functional.

... in that case you should be backing it up regularly!
Service Pack 1 is a Windows Update - or rather, a package of Windows Updates - which should have been installed two years ago when it was released. If you haven't yet installed it your system may be more at risk than you realise.

Okay, I did the Windows Update and it installed alot of "Imporant" stuff. When I look in "View Update History" I see some failed downloads. How do I reinstall them? It won't show up in Windows Update Important anymore.

    Which updates failed?
Try installing them again - do a check for updates, and install any found - repeat until no more install.
If there's any left to install that keep failing, follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the results.

Thanks for you time Noel, I have to ask one more question. If I were to manually install Service Pack 2, would that work with Max Payne 3?

There is no Service Pack 2 for Windows 7 - and as far as I am aware, there are no current plans for one.

This is the site to download the Service pack 1.
It says download the appropriate files for you. Problem is I don't know what the appropriate files for me are.

It'll be one of the last 3
    look at the filenames -
IA64- Itanium processor (you won't have one!)
    x86 - 32-bit installation
    x64 - 64-bit installation

You say you have the 32-bit one. - so http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...976932-X86.exe
