That error is usually caused by not running the Command Prompt as Admin. (i.e. in normal rather than Elevated)
Please try again. I've tested it here, and it works.
Are you running with UAC disabled?

yes UAC is set "never notify"
prompt opens to C:\Windows\System32 and not C:\Users\(user name) as the default command prompt without administrator rights.

here it is after i change UAC slider (second from bottom)

    Ah - I think I know what's wrong - and it's my fault...
Please delete the current wow64.reg file and the ch4aa.zip file -
download the ch4ab.zip file and extract the new wow64.reg file and try with that.

(I forgot that I'd renamed the Hive in the VM I was using!)
    Sorry about the confusion ;(

Hmm - obviously the error is not where I thought it was!

Please run the following commands, and post the results

    Code:

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS

    REG QUERY REG QUERY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\wow64_microsoft-windows-f..client-applications_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.167%9_none_df67c0e4765c33a8

    Hmm - I half-expected that

we'll have to do it the long way.

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file to your desktop, and compress it.
Then upload the compressed file to your favourite fileshare site (SkyDrive will do nicely - but isn't required) - post a link to it in your reply.

I'll have to load it and see if I can find the error myself.

That was easy! :) Turns out I'd been looking for the wrong thing.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands....

    Code:

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
    REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\wow64_microsoft-windows-f..client-applications_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.167¥9_none_df67c0e4765c33a8 /F
    REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\wow64_microsoft-windows-f..client-applications_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16759_none_df67c0e4765c33a8 /v S256H /t REG_BINARY /d bbc7b8210cf44081908f3e84f66c7ccf5ae768b1261d71c5cd36d90823d53fda
    REG UNLOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS
    .
    Close the window, and reboot
Run (yet) another CheckSUR report, and post the logs
Then try another SFC scan and see what happens.
