Are you still getting the same error?

Please upload the C:\Windows\Windowsupdate.log file - it may give us a clue what's happening.

Try the fixit that comes up on this page - Temporary connection-related errors may occur when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update

    Test Windows Update again.

If it still gives the same error, try resetting the BITS queue -

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.
    Code:
    Net stop bits
    Net stop wuauserv
    Ipconfig /flushdns
    cd \documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\network\downloader
    Del qmgr0.dat
    Del qmgr1.dat
    Net start bits
    Net start wuauserv

    .
reboot and then Check for Updates again

Interestingly, I have a clean install which has just hit this problem - I'll see what I can find that solves it and post back :)

    sle3pingz,

Nope. It's not dangerous at all. It only resets and reregisters Windows Update. You don't lose anything. :)
