this one seems to be for windows 7 sp1

A platform update is available for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

I see it is for direct x, etc but is this really needed?
and how come it came out of sequence and not on patch tuesday?

I got this KB installed on 26/12 ... the same day as I installed IE10 :)

Just received the Windows update for this today (Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition (KB2670838)) and had to immediately uninstall.

Killed Firefox 19 and Explorer 9.

It may be OK with Explorer 10 but I don't want to be forced into updating and using Explorer.

Firefox is my primary preferred browser, so until it's fixed will not be installing this update.

Wierd. I just installed it on 3 machines and ie and Firefox both with the versions you have run fine

I have also just installed KB2670838 it and it crashed IE9 - I had to uninstall this 'update' and now all seems ok again.
Do you need this update BEFORE installing IE10?

I do not have any toolbars installed on the ones I did

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when more users install it thru Windows Update!!

After installing update IE9 opened but would not connect - except for error message. I tried another restart to no avail. I'm happy to wait until issue is fully resolved.

I was having problems with YouTube on IE9 (add-on related), but not anymore.

I installed the KB and had no problems on 2 computer using I.E.9 and Foxfire. I'm installing I.E. 10 on my older computer as I type to give it a try.
