    Can't download ~50 updates, including SP1 - Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Hello,

I don't know how to fix the errors in my CheckSUR log, and it would be very much appreciated if someone could supply the files and instructions.

Here is the error code that I got when trying to manually install SP1, if it's any help: trust_e_nosignature 0x800b0100

Please also run the SFC and post the CBS.log file.

    SFC -System File Checker -Instructions

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the ElevatedCommand Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages -and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created(C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate itdirectly) and then compress the copy and attach it to your reply.

There are a large number of problems in the CheckSUR report - and it's debatable whether it's worth trying to fix manually. The results of the SFC scan will help make a decision.

    Thanks for the reply.

I learned how to expand .msu files, and got most of the files manually.
Don't worry, I didn't extract everything to CheckSUR, I did it one by one.

So, I have less errors now, could you get the rest of those files for me?

*Waiting on CheckSUR to run one more time. I'll edit in the log file soon.

    Oh, and the SFC scan:

    Code:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\Christian>SFC /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Well done! - you made major inroads to the known errors.
Here's the remaining ones from your latest report.

    I've uploaded afile - s288aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

    Please downloadand save it.

Right-click onthe downloaded file, and select Extract all…

Extract to thedefault location - which will create a new folder s288aain the same place.

Open this folder- there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to thefolder

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Andthe content of the manifestsfolder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Nowrun the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Postthe new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

    Thank you for those packages.
They fixed the rest of my errors, and I was able to download every single update for Windows, including SP1.

About 15 of them I had to download and install manually, but that's fine.
At least it's over now and I'm up to date.
