    Update services not running

    Hello!
Just finished a reactivation of Windows 7 Pro and now update manager is not working properly, had to reactivate after cloning and upgrading hard drive. I tried restarting the system as the update manager directed me to do. I have tried running the "System Update Readiness Tool" from Microsoft and received the following error code "0xc8000247". I also ran "sfc /scannow" and it reported that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them". Details are attached in the zipped CBS log.

    Thank you for your help!

Sounds like the Crypto services may be having a problem.
There are no problems evident in the CBS log - although there are some anomalies in it that may indicate that it's not working properly.

Please run the following commands in an Elevatedcommand prompt window, and copy/paste the results to your reply, together witha new MGADiag report.

    NET START CRYPTSVC
    SC QC CRYPTSVC
    SC QUERYEX CRYPTSVC

Here are some instructions to make lifeeasier :)

    1) To open anElevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs,Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run asAdministrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

    2) To run thecommands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on thehighlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at topleft – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the lastcommand, so hit the Enter Key once.

    3) To copy theresults... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit...'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to pasteit into your response.

    Hello Noel!
Thank you for your speedy reply. I'm not in front of the PC right now, I'm working on it for a client and the issues that it's having are a little outside of my expertise and I appreciate your help. I will be meeting with my client again possibly later this day and will post the results of the above commands. Also, the "Not Genuine" warning has returned. I went through the reactivation process with him yesterday and it appeared that we had solved that issue, the "My Computer" properties said that it was activated and MGAdiag stated that Windows was genuine so I left it thinking the issue was resolved.

    Ahah!

This may simplybe caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

    Installing theIntel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloadingand installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

    (you want theiata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

That's fixed the MGADiag problem, at least :)

Now open Windows Update and do a Check for Updates - what happens?
Try installing only the oldest update - what happens?
