eMachines Laptop now is no longer Genuine even though it is

    HI
About 3 years ago I purchased my machine and updates have been going in with out problems until about the 13th March 2013 when updates began failing to load, since 18th March 2013 I have been getting non genuine messages on start up. Investigating I have noticed my product key has changed somehow, the product key noted in the following log is not the key I started with the log also shows a number of file missmatch and further down shows files tampered with.

I have no Idea what has happened I get a popup message asking me to make my Windows genuine

The product key that is on the COA sticker on the bottom of the laptop is the one that really belongs to your PC. The one you had from eMacines is only a generic key that they use for mass activation.

Try to activate with the key on the COA sticker and you should be OK.

No idea though why the original key would have been modified.

My apologizes Bruce should of read the " My Specs " first .

Lets try running CHKDSK C: /R

Run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan
Click on type CMD inside Search programs and files box
    Right-click on CMD
Select Run as Administrator and Click on Yes on the UAC window . Command Prompt should open with C:\Windows\System32>_

    In Command prompt, type
    Code:
    CHKDSK C:
    and press the [Enter] key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on type CMD inside Search programs and files box
    Right-click on CMD
Select Run as Administrator and Click on Yes on the UAC window . Command Prompt should open with C:\Windows\System32>_
    In Command prompt, type
    Code:
    SFC /SCANNOW
    and press [Enter] key

Wait for the scan to finish
Copy the CBS.log file created to your desktop

    Post a new MGADiag report
