I've been seeing a lot of logs recently with session state errors like that - and I've been unable as yet to find the cause
If I come across something, I'll let you know!

Thank you so much Noel
I've been looking all over the place to find a solution to this error and right now I am running the MS FixIt 50202 as I am typing - it has been running for over 20 mins now. Not sure if it would really fix the problem
Looking forward to a solution from you or Tom on this.
Many thanks!
Whenever I've run 50202 in the past, it's taken less than a minute - it may be frozen/hung
Have a look in the event log, and see if you can find any related events.
Okay the next time I ran the Fix It tool, it took about a min to complete.
But the problem still persists. I attempted the SP 1 installation through Windows Update but it returned a 8024200D error
Seems like the only way out of this would be a clean install of Win 7 - which I am very reluctant to do
(A clean install is something we ALL want to avoid! :))
That error code usually means that an install from the standalone will work.
Please try that - Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center
I had downloaded the standalone SP1 file and had attempted to run it several times without success
I have downloaded and burned a copy of Win 7 Pro with SP1 (media refresh) from digital river and will be making a clean install with it. My biggest mistake was installing a pre-SP1 version of Win 7 when an SP1 version was easily available.
I should have joined this forum much earlier..lol
Thanks
Hi probuddha,
Sorry for the delay! I had a few mates round for an early 19th and spent the next day recovering I have a ridiculously big backlog of threads and PMs to reply to from just two days out and I'm slowly working through it.
Why not try a repair install first? :)
Repair Install
The problem with the rarer Windows Update errors and problems is that they are very undocumented so we have to research them ourselves. I've spent so long working in my virtual machine trying to mess up Windows Update in different ways in the hope that I generate an error; I can then retrace my steps and devise a fix.
Tom
Finally made a clean install with the most updated version of Win 7 Pro from Digital River and thank God, this installation includes SP1 :)
Now installing apps.
Thanks once again guys. I will get back to you again if something new shows up
