Windows Update has odd text and Won't show Updates

I've tried all kinds of things to fix this and can't figure it out and haven't seen the issues anywhere else.

I have attached a screen grab of the error I am getting.

Basically their is a giant exclamation point inside a yellow shield. The Top Line of text says:

    #elementModuleHeaderTex#

Then in smaller font underneath that: #actionCustominsta

Then under that in same font and size: #actionCustominsta

The box you usually hit to install updates is but there is no text in it. If I hit it the yellow shield becomes a red one with an X in it. I've tried running the FixIt Tool from Windows and it does nothing. It says it's fixed things but nothing happens.

Can anyone look at the attachment and give me a clue ?

    Thanks

    Chris

    Any thought

    Hello Chris,

You might see if using OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to completely reset Windows Update may help.

    Windows Update - Reset

    Hope this helps, :)

Thanks for the option. It didn't seem to work. I am still getting the odd text. This time when I pressed the gray button it looked like it was downloading something but when it was done everything was the same.

In that case for now, see if running a sfc /scannow command may be able to help. You may need to run it a few times followed by restarting the computer after each time.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
