nvidia driver update failed in windows update

Hiya, just a while I ago I tried to install the NVidia driver update in my windows update but it says it failed after trying to install. Was wondering could this corrupt my video card driver or registery or can anything be done to make this error like it never happened before? Currently I'm using a GTX 460 with NVidia driver version 311.06 , many thanks.

go to windows update, click on the "View update history" link, find the driver that failed to install, double click on it and post the error code in this thread.

If you receive Windows Update error 80070103 while installing updates, you might be trying to install a driver that is already installed on your computer or a driver that has a lower compatibility rating than one you already have installed.

if the update proceeds to show up in windows update, you may wish to right click on it and hit "hide update".

Could my registry or NVidia driver be corrupted after the update? I'm wondering should I do a clean reinstallation for my video driver.

Your driver should be fine. The same thing happens to me every so often. I just hide the update if it shows up again. its just a glitch in windows update.

P.S. If you choose to re install your driver, i would go to the nvidia website and get it from there. not windows update.
