Product key giving product is upgrade not clean install on activation

I picked up this lenovo laptop and shortly after I got it the HDD went out. I replaced the HDD and Installed a full version of Windows XP SP2 then used the Win 7 upgrade disc I bought. I did a clean install of the Win 7 then I activated it at that time without any issues. Some time after that I started getting the message it wasn't a genuine copy. I rearmed the time period but I'm not able to activate the copy again with the PID. I get the message this product is for upgrade and not a clean install. I need to find out if I will be able to register this copy or if I will need to start over from scratch. I did try putting in another PID but it didn't activate with it. I haven't been able to change the PID back due to the message I am getting about the upgrade not clean install.

I appreciate any help I can get with this issue.

I was able to use the "Activate_Windows_Upggrade_after_Clean_Install.bat" file and successfully get my Windows 7 upgrade successfully activated. It allowed me to do the phone activation after the reboot. I appreciate that quick response. Thank you for your response.

I've never heard of such a bat file. Can you upload a copy of it here so we can examine it?

This is the thread I got that .bat file from: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version. The file is downloadable in option 3. I hope this helps with anything you run into like this.

Ahh OK, I'm still not sure how you did that......you cannot install an Acer OEM onto a Lenova.

Please provide a new MGADIAG report.

Here is the report I just ran so you can see the final results. I don't know how the Acer part is there even though the HDD was purchased off of ebay. The disc's I used were OS discs from Microsoft and not recovery discs from a manufacturer. Doing full installs shouldn't have had anything tied to Acer. Unless the person before me had done something with the BIOS that I'm not aware of, I'm at a loss as to how it would show Acer. Maybe with the report you might see something that ties them together.

That's a completely different installation to the first one

    Your original MGADIAG reported:
    Code:
    Windows Product ID: 00426-OEM-8992662-00006
    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP
And this is your latest one:

I didn't do any installing but I was able to clear the limitation that was stopping me from inputting the correct PID code for the install. After doing the tool it also reset the ability to activate the software. I did have to activate it through the automated phone system but everything went through okay.

The installation needs to be validated.

go to www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and see what it has to say, then post a new MGADiag report.
