Windows 7 not genuine Error 0xC004F200

Hello i new here, i am trying to help my friend fix his computer who recently (after 3 years) had notifications showing that his Windows 7 Ultimate is not Genuine. its a Gateway Laptop Windows 7 ultimate. I am not sure whether it is a virus or malware or just a faulty update from microsoft. The OS is not counterfiet AFAIK as it is new from Bestbuy. I hope someone and could provide help to me thanks
