Windows 7 Home Premium X64 (windows update issue)

Hello everyone, I am new here.
I have an issue with Windows Update, $OS Windows 7 Home premium x64 SP1 on a ASUS laptop I bought few months ago. I have attached 2 screenshots that will explain everything better, it seems that the text in windows update is missing completely. I don't know what caused this because it used to work correctly but I stopped the updates manually and turned off notifications in action center. Also , the operating system was set to the Italian language but i've changed it to EN using Vistalizator. I googled the problem a bit and found you guys, I've tried to merge a Windows_Update.reg file that Brink posted in order to set the service to default parameters but that won't help at all. Also in the services list as you can see in the screenshot (I highlighted the windows update service) in the description area of the service says "<Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 15100 >"
I'm kindly asking for your help and or suggestions/ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

Hello Bacilul and welcome to the forums

Do you use registry cleaners/optimisers? This sort of problem seems right up their street!

Can you post the requested data please: Windows Update Posting Instructions

Hello Tom and thank you. I also apologize for not posting requested information.
I've installed SURT and ran the check , found corrupted files but was unable to fix some of them details are included in the cbs log, bla bla. I use CCCleaner from time to time but I doubt that's what caused this. I've attached the cbs directory. Thank you very much in advance Tom

    Hi Bacilul,

Your CheckSUR log indicates that the System Update Readiness Tool has fixed 25 problems which is great.

Your CBS log is showing two corrupt files which we will need to fix:

It seems I'm not very lucky, anyway, regarding simplified chinese/pintlgb.imd, it's funny but it looks like most of the users having the exact same problem are using ASUS laptops, however I don't think they have the windows update issue i'm having. I'm waiting for your next reply like kids wait Christmas :) Hoping we can solve this after all because altough I just downloaded the operating system's .iso from Microsoft I'd surely rather not perform a fresh install, at least for now.

Also, sorry for the off topic but when I registered I also activated my account however I'm unable to send private messages and I wish to send you one concerning your helpful assistance.

You have to be active for a while before PM's become available :)
The PINTLGM.dll issue is seemingly common one - relatively speaking - but I've not noticed any common factor in them yet (and I've not found it in my ASUS computer). It may be a bad image problem, or it may be something like a common malware infection.

Yeah it can be a pain at times because if I have plenty of time then the people I'm helping might not even be online, but on the other hand it takes a while to prepare some of the fixes so if it was IM then you'd be waiting around a lot for me to source the various files Don't you get email notifications?

The good news is that you're now free of corrupt files as the repair was successful but the bad news is that the DACL restore on one of the files failed so let's have a look why:

Yeah I don't think your Windows Update issue is related to this but you can never guarantee system stability with corrupt files on board so I wanted to fix this before we continued. Hopefully we won't need those ISOs!

As Noel said, the inability for you to send PMs is an anti-spam mechanism to prevent bots joining and flooding everyone with PMs. It's pretty obvious you're a real person so I'll ask if they can activate yours :)

Yes, I'm thankful that we got rid of the corrupt files, unfortunately the main problem has not been solved yet. I do get e-mail notifications but we can't synchronize. I'm here waiting for your next reply. Thanks again.

Thank you NoelDP I pretty much figured that part out, just wanted to be sure.
