    Error 80073712 when installing KB2799926

    Hi,

This is about a friend's computer.
It's a fresh install, just yesterday.
I have only installed mobo drivers from the manufacturer's website and then Windows updates. I couldn't install a few so I did it manually. But this one won't go thru

I tried SFC, the fixer from Microsoft and the system update readiness tool.
Also deleted the SoftwareDistribution folder manually and still won't install.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Here are the specs, it's a really basic PC for office and home use.

    Win7 x64 Home Premium
    Mobo: Asrock N68-VS3 FX
    AMD Semprom 145
    2gb RAM Kingston

    SFC gave "no integrity errors"?
system update readiness tool ran fine and gave no errors as well?

    Post file checksur.log

    Hi, thanks for replying.

Shame on me. I did read the posting instructions, so it's my fault. I posted that at about 4 AM, anyway it's no excuse.

    SFC gave no errors.
Update readiness tool found three errors and corrected them. The only one I can remember is a cryptographic error.

    Here's what's needed. I hope it's all.
I understand the file checksur.log is included here.

    Thanks again.

    Hi, thanks for replying again.

Just ran it and here's the log.

    Regards.

Edit: I just realized. I wrote that the update readiness tool found errors. Of course it was not, it was the fixer from MS website for general problems. My bad. Sorry.

Try to be more accurate. So sfc/scannow gave no errors. So system update readiness tool gave no errors in checksur.log.

Because you installed win7 just a few days ago try a repair install. Repair Install
After process is complete... eventually install lan network driver. Now "search for updates" and install them, reboot. Now "search for updates" and install them, reboot. Now "search for updates" and install them, reboot. Now "search for updates" and install them, reboot. Just untill all updates are installed. Don't forget step 22 from tutorial.

Now install missing drivers (see "device manager")

    THANK YOU SO MUCH

    Finally!
Funny thing these kind of things always happen when I work with someone else's computer (a friend, my mom, sister, partner). My own PC runs smoothly. Good thing I don't do this for a living. This is the kind of issues that make me feel not guilty for having had a non legal version of Windows for a long time in the 90s.
It's not user friendly at all. If it happened to most of the people I know, there's no way they could solve it. Not even with help from a forum.

Once again, thank you very much.

    Have a great day.
