Unable to uninstall windows update KB2670838, error 0x80073701

    Hello,
I play a lot of PC games, and in one particular game, I have been having a graphical glitch. This is apparently related to the Windows KB2670838 update, and many people on various forums have solved the problem by removing this update.
I first tried removing the update from 'Programs and Features -> Installed updates', but get an error 0x80073701 'referenced assembly not found'.
Instead I tried to uninstall using the command prompt 'wusu', then tried again in safe mode, and even tried uninstalling IE10, the apparent cause for this update in the first place.
None of these attempts have succeeded for one reason or another, and I wondered if anyone has any help?

Yeah, when I used the command before, I ran it as administrator. But it still didn't work.

I already tried this whilst following one of the other instructions, but I've tried again.
It only took about a second, and went straight from 0% to 'did not find any integrity violations'.

    Here is my CBS.log:

Odd - I've never seen so short a log!
Please post the entire CBS folder - you'll need to zip it, then perhaps strip out the oldest CBSPersist file(s) to get it inside the forum's posting limits.

Here's the whole CBS file (I didn't have to remove anything).

Got to keep this short but wanted to pop in before I get my head down.

Buggered COMPONENTS hive :) Worth a double check though.

Thanks, Tom! (have a good holiday :))

Rsstn - please upload your COMPONENTS file so I can see how bad it is....

    Open Windows Explorer.
    Navigate to the
    C:\Windows\System32\config
folder - you should find a large COMPONENTS file (no extension)
copy it to your desktop, then Zip the copy, and upload it to your SkyDrive/DropBox or other favoured fileshare site, and post a link in your reply.
